It’s been another extremely tough, violent few weeks in the news. Incidents of police violence, including the shootings of Adam Toledo in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota and Daunte Wright in Chicago, Illinois have horrified communities across the nation, including us here in the East Bay. We’ve also seen yet another mass shooting at an Indianapolis FedEx facility, adding to an awful wave of gun deaths. Indivisible East Bay is outraged by this heartbreaking violence. We stand with our representatives in support of the Justice in Policing Act as it advances in the Senate, and we reiterate our commitment to common-sense gun control measures. Some local organizations providing support in Brooklyn Center, MN are here, and some in Little Village in Chicago, IL are here.
On a lighter note, we hope to see you at our April All Members Meeting this Sunday, April 25th, 1PM-3PM on Zoom. You can RSVP here. We’ll hear from Janani Ramachandran, candidate for CA Assembly District 18, on why she’s running. She’ll stick around for Q&A, so feel free to come prepared with questions! As you may know, Indivisible East Bay is considering endorsing Janani: check out her candidate questionnaire here and submit comments here by 11:59PM this Thursday, April 22, at the latest. Here’s some guidance on writing comments. We’ll also host our neighbors from Indivisible CA-25 to discuss their organizing. We’ll have breakouts for new members, people looking to get involved in CA State work, and more!
Hope to see you on Sunday!
