Background: Trump has nominated Thomas Farr for a lifetime judgeship in federal district court. This nomination is pending a final vote in the Senate, which can happen quickly, so contact your Senators now against this nomination.

Farr’s “claim to fame” is his long legal career against the rights of African-American voters. He has argued in support of unconstitutional racial gerrymandering and an illegal voter ID law which the court said targeted African-Americans “with almost surgical precision.”

When not attempting to suppress the voting rights of racial minorities, Farr has chosen to build his career undermining workers’ rights. He has consistently taken positions that would make it difficult for workers facing discrimination in the workplace to file lawsuits. Farr has supported closing off his state’s courts from workers seeking help from employment discrimination based on race, religion, color, national origin, age, sex, or disability.

In light of Farr’s record against the civil rights of African-Americans, it is most disturbing that he has been nominated to be a lifetime judge in a court district whose population is at least 25% African-American.

Thomas Farr should never be a federal judge. Please contact your Senators against this nomination.

Please call your Senators and say:

Hi, my name is [name], and I’m a constituent calling from [zip code]. I’m calling to urge you to vote NO on the nomination of Thomas Farr to the federal district court. Farr has spent his career working to disenfranchise voters of racial minorities and to undermine workers’ rights. His repeated attacks on voting rights and workers’ rights make him unfit to serve as a federal judge. Please vote No on the Farr nomination.
