The custom used to be for one judicial nominee to take up one hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Now under Trump and the Republican leadership, the nominees are piled up 5 or 6 deep in a single hearing. Neither the public, the news media, nor the Senators themselves have sufficient time to evaluate these nominees for lifelong federal judgeships.
It’s like the bum’s rush for our courts: get those nominees out of committee and onto a floor vote and into judgeships, the faster the better. This is no way to run our federal courts.
