Our independent judiciary is one of the most admired aspects of American government. Now more than ever, we need it. We hear almost daily of how our courts are protecting our rights, and deciding against the encroachments of the Trump administration.

But be warned: Trump came to office with a large number of vacancies in the federal courts. The Republicans blocked President Obama’s nominees to the federal courts, and now they are pushing hard to fill the vacancies with nominees who support their right-wing ideology.

Trump’s transformation of our federal courts–for the worse–is flying under the radar.

This podcast from Amicus on Slate.com cuts to the essentials: Trump’s scary nominees, the rushed hearings in the Senate, and the trashing of bipartisan custom in nominating judges. About 30 minutes long. We recommend it.
