We’re a week away from Congress’s August recess, and we’re heartened to hear some signs of progress. We ended last week with tabling, and started this week with a banner drop asking Congress not to go home until they pass the For The People Act. Recess can wait – democracy can’t! And we’re keeping up the pressure by calling our Senators every day using the scripts here. (To get a lovely reminder every day from the Center for Common Ground to call, text DEMOCRACY to 333-39!) There are scripts for 23 (!) states, so share with friends, too! Next week, we’ll gather virtually for a rally to tell Senators that democracy can’t wait, and that the Senate must do everything in their power (including filibuster reform or abolition) to pass the For the People Act ASAP. We’re doing our part to push for democracy – it’s time for our Senators to do theirs!
This weekend, we’re holding a banner walk with RepresentUs. Our goal is to turn out over fifty people, so please stop by and share this widely!
