We can slow down and stop the consolidation of fascism in a future election, but global research has found a mass civil resistance is required to slow the harms in the short-term and protect and enforce free and fair elections in the long-term.

While mass mobilizations help to demonstrate widespread opposition and electoral wins are necessary to gain power, we must also socialize and engage in targeted and strategic mass defiance tactics which can have immediate impact and slowly chip away at the pillars supporting the authoritarian regime.
