Deadline to vote on priority bills is Saturday, March 19 at 6 PM

It’s that time of year again! What time, you might be wondering? Time to vote on StateStrong priority bills! Voting is well underway for the StateStrong legislative priorities for 2022. Want to add your input? Look at our bill explainer for more info on each bill nominated by Indivisible groups across the state and view the recording of our bill presentation from March 7 on the StateStrong call.

We also wanted to highlight the preferred bills chosen by each StateStrong working group (preferred bills indicate areas of interest and bills particularly important to working groups, but this by no means excludes other bills – you can vote for any nominated bill you think we should advocate for).

To vote, submit your top bills in each category here. The deadline for voting on priority bills is Saturday, March 19 at 6 PM. Read on for more information, and happy voting!

The California legislature is in full swing, and Indivisible groups from across the state nominated 38 bills that were introduced earlier this year for our collective support. Now it’s our turn to vote on the legislation that is important to us, on which we’ll focus our efforts statewide! We have lots of exciting bills in 2022, including wage protections, gun violence prevention, divesting from fossil fuels, and much more.

How will the process work? For starters, check out this bill explainer for more info on each bill (click on the bill number to pull up the official bill text in LegInfo). You can also watch this recording of our bill presentation from March 7 on the StateStrong call.

To vote, submit your top bills in each category here. This is a ranked choice poll. That means you can vote for as many (or as few) bills as you want in each category and will be able to rank them in order of preference. The polling system will then calculate the overall winners and break any (unlikely) ties randomly.  The deadline for voting on priority bills is Saturday, March 19 at 6pm.

Of course, we don’t expect everyone to be knowledgeable in all the issue areas, so if you only feel comfortable voting for a few categories, that’s perfectly fine. That said, it would be great to get as much input as possible in all the categories.

We’d also love to see more IEB folks working on state legislative advocacy! Are you interested in being part of an incredible coalition researching bills, attending committee hearings, and writing letters of support? Join one of our workgroups here.
