When we stockpile early votes, we are protecting the election. The more early votes are cast and counted, the harder it is to sabotage the election.
That means that this year, all supervoters (those who vote in every election) have a special superpower: moving their vote to the first day they can cast it!

Read on for the seven reasons that casting early votes helps us to win and defend the election:
1. Early voting inspires more voters! A large early turnout demonstrates unmistakable public determination to participate. It makes a strategy based on discouraging people, generating chaos, or creating fear less plausible and less effective.
2. Early voting focuses GOTV resources on a smaller pool of voters. Early voters are removed from turnout lists, so campaigns and organizers can concentrate voting reminders, troubleshooting, legal assistance, and rides where they are still needed.
3. Early voting provides early warning of systemic problems. Reports of missing ballots, registration errors, or malfunctioning vote centers can emerge while officials, lawyers, and organizers still have time to respond.
4. Early voting avoids postal service problems. If you vote by mail and mail your ballot early, postmarks and mail delivery delays are not an issue. This is important if postal service is slowed, disrupted, or interfered with.
5. Early voting avoids the disruptions that are more likely to happen closer to – and on – Election Day. Polling-place closures, voter intimidation, and extremely long lines won’t keep you from casting your vote.
6. Early voting allows time to correct registration and ballot problems. If you have been removed from the rolls you have time to re-register and vote. An early voter can track the ballot and fix a missing or disputed signature. (In 2024, 1.5% of all ballots were set aside for curing, and of those, 46% were never cured.) You have time for a second attempt. If a ballot never arrives, is damaged, or is rejected, you still have time to vote in person or get a replacement ballot.
7. Early voting shrinks the post-election uncertainty that saboteurs can exploit. The more votes that are received and processed early, the harder it is to use a prolonged count to spread claims that legitimate late-counted ballots are fraudulent.
