by Joan Cardellino
At our All-Members Meeting on March 24, Ed Feigen of Movement Voter Project gave a talk describing the work that MVP does. You can view the talk here.
IEB is collaborating with MVP to host a fund-raising party. And guess what? YOU’re invited. Here’s your official invitation:
We understand the stakes in the upcoming election. If Trump wins, we will see increased attacks on our freedoms: the freedom to vote, the freedom to decide whether and when to grow our families, the freedom to love who we love, and more. We can expect a policy agenda that promotes climate denialism, increased inequality, and judicial appointments that set us back for generations. And we can expect an autocratic administration that will seek to dismantle our democratic institutions and get “revenge” for its imagined grievances.
That’s why defeating Trump and his MAGA supporters is so critical. Yet, living in a deep blue state, many of us struggle to find the best way to maximize our impact on the national election. I have been contributing to the Movement Voter Project (MVP) — an organization that offers a unique opportunity to defend democracy and create a more just country. The more I learn about MVP’s work the more inspired and enthusiastic I become.
To help spread the word, we’re holding a party where you can to hear all about MVP. It will be a fun social gathering — an afternoon of political discussion, food and fundraising. Please join us!
Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 3:30-5:00 pm.
Update: May 19th: The party’s over. A good time was had by all.
Nearly 40 people attended the event, hosted at IEB member Joan Cardellino’s house. We raised $12,340, surpassing our goal of $10,000! The party included a presentation about the organization and how it works — followed by several members of IEB speaking about their reasons for supporting MVP and the vital work it does.
