We are deeply concerned by credible allegations of sexual assault by Eric Swalwell. Running for higher office demands the trust of the public. That trust is incompatible with the unresolved, credible accusations that have been reported. That is why, for the good of the communities we serve, and to uphold the integrity of the race for governor, we call on Rep. Swalwell to withdraw his candidacy.
Indivisible East Bay believes deeply in building a multiracial, inclusive democracy rooted in dignity, accountability, and justice. These values must guide not only the policies we fight for, but also the leaders we support.
This is not a decision we make lightly. We recognize the importance of due process and fairness. At the same time, we must center the experiences of survivors and the broader need to create political spaces free from harm and intimidation.
Our movement is about more than winning elections — it is about building a future grounded in respect, safety, and shared humanity. We remain committed to those principles, and we will continue to hold all leaders to the highest standards.
